Individual Counselling

Treatment for anxiety, sadness, and other life stressors is among the many reasons why people seek professional help. Adult individual therapy offers a safe, private, and emotionally secure environment in which to discuss your present struggles and experiences. You and your therapist can decide what kind of treatment is best for you based on your unique circumstances and personality. Mindwave psychotherapy can help you to become more empowered,to better understand yourself and others, make personal goals, and work towards improving or accepting your life, overcome challenges, and move towards healing and life satisfaction.

Individual Relationship Counselling

You want to talk about something that’s wrong in your relationship when you come to therapy. It’s possible that you have no idea what it is. However, you are under no obligation to bring your partner along to therapy. Simply bring yourself there. You deserve to process on your own, even if you and your partner are in counselling.

Whether you are dating, married, or even in the middle of a divorce, every relationship experiences challenging times. Stress, anxiety, anger, sadness, and frustration may all have an impact on relationships and leave us feeling cold, resentful, defensive, and distrustful. A therapist can assist an individual in promptly identifying and resolving communication errors, cultural barriers, and other factors that may be impeding a couple’s ability to maintain a positive relationship. Therapy can help you in developing the skills necessary to resolve conflicts, establish common goals, and communicate clearly.

Online Counselling

Online counselling is a form of therapy in which sessions are conducted online between a client and therapist instead of in person. It offers a practical and easily available means for people to access mental health support. Here are some essential details regarding online counselling:

  • Video Call Sessions: Similar to face-to-face sessions, but conducted via video conferencing secure platforms like Zoom or Psychology Today.
  • Accessibility: Clients can receive therapy from any location, regardless of where they live.
  • Convenience: Sessions can be held in the comfort of one’s home rather than having to travel to a therapist’s office.
  • Privacy: For some people, talking about sensitive topics online is more comfortable.
  • Flexible Scheduling: You can choose the time of your appointments with greater flexibility when using online sessions.

Counselling and Anxiety

Modern life is filled with anxiety, but excessive anxiety may be extremely painful and distressing. It’s critical to understand that anxiety manifests as both mental and physical symptoms. A pit in your stomach, a tightness in your chest, and recurring negative thoughts can all be symptoms of anxiety. It can prevent you from seeking relationships and employment.

There is no “one size fits all” approach to treating anxiety because every person experiences anxiety in a different way. Danika will take the time to listen to you carefully with this in mind. Psychotherapy aims to bring about long-lasting change, supporting those in managing their anxiety symptoms as well as trying to identify its underlying causes.

Counselling and Depression

A person suffering from depression may feel sad for an extended period of time, feel unworthy, lack energy, avoid social situations, and find it difficult to enjoy activities that they used to enjoy.

With the help of a therapist, a person can start the healing process through therapy by talking about their feelings, exploring possible causes or contributors, developing coping mechanisms, and gaining relief from depressive symptoms that are interfering with their day-to-day activities.

Dealing with Stress

Stress can manifest itself in a variety of situations and, to be honest, can strike without warning. Our ability to manage stress and the feelings it causes can have long-term consequences for our mental health and wellbeing.

It is important to learn how to deal with stress, whether it stems from work, finances, relationships, or other areas of your life, before it has a detrimental effect on your health. In psychotherapy, you can explore the causes of your stress-related issue and talk about the things that really bother you.

Grief

The emotion of grief is a reaction to loss, specifically the death of a loved one. The process of grief has various facets, including emotional, physical, cognitive, social, cultural, spiritual, and philosophical. Although the phrases are frequently used synonymously, grief is the response to a loss, whereas bereavement is the state of experiencing a loss.

Many people experience grief when a loved one passes away, but people also grieve when they lose different types of losses throughout their lives, like losing their job or place in the workforce, a meaningful relationship, their home or country, being unwell, or going through other traumatic experiences.

Grief is a complex process, every person responds to loss differently, and everybody deals with loss differently. Various emotions can be experienced by those grieving the loss of a loved one; these include sadness, overwhelm, shock, confusion, and at times anger. As the impact of a sudden loss differs from that of having time to plan for a loved one’s death or loss, the circumstances and timing of the loss are also significant.

Even though it’s a natural part of life, grief and bereavement can be harmful if  profound or lasts for an extended period of time. When this happens, or when the grieving feels endless, it could be time to talk to a therapist about the specific loss and the challenges of getting well and going back to your regular activities.

Trauma

Trauma is defined as “an emotional or physical response to one or more physically harmful or life threatening events or circumstances with lasting adverse effects on your mental and physical well-being”, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA).   Any unexpected or unwanted event can result in trauma, which can have a profoundly negative effect on the person experiencing it. Every person has a unique manner of processing traumatic events. With the help of psychotherapy and counselling, you may overcome the trauma you are experiencing and allow it to become an event of the past rather than who you are now.
